Montara report slams operator

THE OFFICIAL report into last year’s Montara oil and gas rig explosion, spill and fire off Western Australia has uncovered a litany of shortcomings.
The rig’s operator, the Australian subsidiary of Thailand’s PTTEP, cut so many corners in its drilling operations that it failed “basic oilfield practice 101”, the government report said.
