Federal regulators said Saturday that a natural gas leak first noticed two weeks ago at a Gulf of Mexico production platform owned by Apache Corp. (APA) and Stone Energy Corp. (SGY) has been stopped.
The leak was first noticed by Apache workers on Jan. 16 while they were on site to permanently plug abandoned wells nearby. Efforts are underway to permanently seal the leaking well, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said in a news release.
