Energy giant Shell has appointed an independent consultancy to compile an environmental-management programme (EMP) for its shale gas exploration activities in South Africa’s Karoo basin.Shell submitted an application to the Petroleum Agency of South Africa (Pasa) for three exploration licences over parts of the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape.
