Timberland Factory Outlet Manager Organizes Volunteers to Help Beaches

Yesterday at the Delaware State Fair, Gov. Jack Markell, DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara and Division of Parks and Recreation Director Charles Salkin recognized the Timberland Factory Outlet in Rehoboth Beach with a special volunteer service award.

For the last four years, Store Manager Donna Flomp has coordinated more than 1,000 hours of volunteer time. Store staff members have helped maintain beaches, trails, parking lots and courtyards and performed a variety of tasks from repairing terrapin fences and scrubbing youth camp ovens to scraping, painting and power washing.

“This is a great example of what a strong public-private partnership can accomplish, when both parties share the goal of creating a more sustainable and livable world. Our parks will show the results of the dedication of Donna Flomp and her staff for many years to come,” O’Mara said.

“Part of the Parks mission is to enhance quality of life for Delaware residents and visitors by offering special places to connect with nature. Timberland understands and supports this mission, and today we’d like to say a special thank you to the company’s volunteers for helping to ensure our visitors have the best experience we can give them,” Salkin said.
