Ottawa to study PetroChina’s bid for Canadian shale gas

Ottawa will review PetroChina’s proposed $5.4-billion bid for a chunk of an Encana shale-gas project to ensure the deal is good for Canada, Industry Minister Tony Clement said Friday.
Under the Investment Canada Act, Clement must review any foreign direct investment of more than $299 million.
