Colombia's Ecopetrol has tendered some Castilla oil against dated Brent crude in another move that could further undermine West Texas Intermediate's already battered U.S. benchmark status.
The state oil company offered the 500,000 barrels of Castilla crude as part of what one Ecopetrol trader called "a little diversification." Bids for the March 25-April 5 cargo were due by 2 p.m. CST (2000 GMT) on Tuesday.
