Winter weather is hampering efforts by crews to stop an oil well leak in northwest North Dakota, but officials said Tuesday the delay should not affect containment or cleanup of the spill.
The Whiting Petroleum Corp. well 8 miles northwest of New Town was shut down over the weekend after a valve near the wellhead failed and caused oil, natural gas and water to spill into a lined pit. State health officials said all the liquid has been contained and there has been no environmental damage.
