MOSCOW—Russia's OAO Gazprom on Monday posted a 67% rise in first-half net profit, boosted by higher domestic prices, despite continued weak European demand.
The world's largest producer of natural gas said net profit for the January-to-June period was 494.68 billion rubles ($16.08 billion), compared with 296.24 billion rubles during the same period a year earlier. Sales in the period increased 17% to 1.721 trillion rubles from 1.471 trillion rubles, helped by higher prices at home and increased sales volumes in Europe.
